UK planning reforms threaten UK GA

If you ever wonder why it is that GA airfields around the UK are regularly under threat from re purposing at the hands of councils and other landowners, you should really spend some time reading this document. The UK Government has granted interested parties 12 weeks to offer their views on a planning consultation document in which they set out their preferred new policies. One concern we have is that many airfields may be categorised as places where planning consent can be presumed and not applied for…meaning that we may soon lose a great deal of GA infrastructure. How this aligns with the UK’s own policies on GA remains to be seen.
